We have developed a short aluminium racing subframe for the 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R in cooperation with various racing teams. Why mounting this part is an important step when building your race bike?

Carbonin short aluminium subframe for the Honda CBR1000RR-R.

The main reason is that there’s a few items on a road-legal bike you won’t need on the racetrack: a backseat, turn signals, backlight and license plate holder. That’s why the Carbonin short subframe doesn’t have all those fittings, holes and threads like the basic subframe and that’s why it also can be a bit shorter.

The result: if you slide and (oh, god, please no!) your bike starts rolling (especially after so-called “high-sider” type of a crash) there’s less damage made on the back of your bike, including on the main frame where the subframe is attached. Why? Shorter frame is sticking out less from the bike and also if it touches the ground, the forces are smaller. It should be clear to anyone that didn’t skip physics lessons in primary school.
